Fanime con!

I'M GOING TO BE AT FANIME CON!

Please, give me a lookup! It's not guaranteed that I'll have an artist's table, but I might, at least on Sunday. I'll be selling prints of my latest work (hopefully) and I'll have my comics set up there so my adoring fans can recognize me and my not-so-adoring fans can read my archives for the first time... WHILE AT THE CON! :D INSANITY!

Anywho, for anyone looking for me, I'll be either the girl wearing a Toad outfit (I'll be wearing this outfit: http://smtose.tripod.com/images/toad.png, except I'll also have on a hella sexy red corset) OOOOR I'll be wearing a blue shirt that says 'NPC: non-player character' on it. Either way, I'll be chillin' like a villain. And if I'm not in the alley, never fear: I will be wandering around the convention all day Saturday and Sunday, and at least part of the day Monday and Friday (one hopes).

If you want to commission me, but will not be at the con (I'll be doing commissions, too!) then email me at: swivelchairstudios@hotmail.com. I would appreciate it. (Prices TBA, although if you email me now I can give you a rough estimate.)

Of course, I really type this for my own benefit. I hope to be handing out business cards that have this blog's website on them, so people who saw me at the con and want to commission me in the future also have this information.

Aaaanywho, comic updates! ABS has been updating, I swear, I just haven't updated the website. Off Campus? Ready, Set, Retreat!? Well. I AM a college student now. The comics I update are part of public projects--ABS is published in the school newspaper and Attagirl (also updated, although not as often now) is part of a larger project for the CBC (of which I am now the secretary! Woort!). So I have people monitoring my work, and those are the ones to get updated. :P Sooooooooorries. I really do love you all, but I love getting into graduate school more.

I'm baaaaaack

Hopefully, I'm signed up for Fanime Con... and I'll so be there. In addition, I'm going to try and get an Artist's Table... So find me and buy my shit!

I know I haven't updated in a while... Zoology stole my soul. You laugh. I'm not laughing. I thought I had gotten rid of that thing and it was STOLEN. That's skill. I'm not going to make any promises for the comic, either... I'm quite lazy, I won't argue with that. But here are the updates:

Ghost for Hire is dead. Sorry. I doubt I will ever do another page of it ever again.

Ready Set Retreat is more likely to be updated than Off Campus.

Off Campus is in the middle of a story arc about cats, and I suck at drawing animals.

Go to my dA page... Attagirl is updating and it's awesome. Also: Alpha Beta Soup updated every week this semester. :D It won't update during the break unless I am literally at the BOTTOM of having NOTHING to do, but it will begin again once I am back in school, because it is for the school newspaper.

I'm definitely talking to myself. I have lost all readership. XD Well, wish me luck on... everything, and hopefully I'll win some of you back.

After Hours

Doo doo dodododo doo doo.

My doorbell rang across the house in the early afternoon, about an hour after school got out, rousing me from my studies—or, more realistically, from a recent sketch. I looked up briefly, and then chose to ignore it. It was probably a solicitor anyway. The doorbell rang again as I tried to concentrate, then rang again, and pretty soon I noticed that the ringing had turned quick and repetitive. If they were trying to annoy me, they had succeeded.

I knew who was lurking outside. My friends had come to play.

This scene played out several times in the past. In one scene that kept repeating itself, I let Jenna and Sheli inside. I didn’t start my homework until much later, after much raiding of my fridge, especially the freezer. Jenna could routinely eat nearly 6 ice-cream sandwiches in one afternoon, with Sheli right behind but with less of the soul-devouring metabolism. The sounds of Sailor Moon defeating Queen Beryl of the Negaverse distracted me from figuring out the octet rule in chemistry.
One day, I just decided to disconnect the doorbell and hope that they would go away. They banged on the door for a good ten minutes and then tried to break into my house through the garage, letting the cat outside and knocking more than one thing to the ground in the process. I quickly learned my lesson.

“I say we make a cookie cake,” Jenna declared after determining that I indeed had all the ingredients necessary. Sheli agreed, and they went to work—the two girls seemed, at times, to know my kitchen better than I did. Sheli somehow had memorized the location of whisks, spatulas, and measuring cups; Jenna was taking down the mixing bowls and letting the butter soften… all this while I was still scrambling for the silverware and salt. The cookie cake was such a spectacular mess I could not help but admire it, with its burnt edges and a sagging middle of warm, uncooked cookie dough. Of course, Mom called it a waste of time and ingredients, but since I can still remember it fondly nearly three years later, she is probably very wrong.

“How are those cookies going?” Jenna asked as I brought up a spoonful of cookie dough to my mouth. She snatched a spatula covered in the stuff as I chomped down on the treat.

My reply came out something like, “Bleaguckeuuuuggghhh.” The wad of cookie dough dropped from my mouth, falling to the ground in a disgusting lump even the dog refused to touch. Jenna slowly lowered the spatula that had been about to go into her own mouth, staring at me in astonishment. It was the only time I had mixed up the sugar and salt, but to this day they won’t let me forget about it.

Too many memories are crammed into that kitchen. We spent a lot of time there, me trying to make my friends fat so that I might look better in comparison, Jenna and Sheli mooching to high heaven. Jenna’s the one who made the quite famous ‘duck cake.’ She had suddenly declared that she needed to make a birthday cake for her brother, but upon investigation of the ingredients in my fridge, we discovered we were lacking in eggs… Except, of course, the one large duck egg that a wild duck had laid in my father’s bushes. The next day, we couldn’t help but giggle hysterically as her brother and his friends dug into the slightly crumbly ‘duck cake.’ At least he was her least-favorite brother. Sheli’s Italian side kept resurfacing as she cooked various foods, not in the form of traditional family recipes, but with her trying to force-feed us ramen or potstickers as a way to show us her love. When I left for college, separated by at least four hours from either friend, the old jokes and memories came with me in the form of cookware and cell phone calls as I was making cookies.

“Hey, Dani… Are you sure it’s sugar?”

(c) Me, bitches.

So...

Long time no update.

Things have happened. This includes but is not limited to: school, homework, lack of love life, pets, people, and confusion. I might change my life plan, which sucks for me, but it's just... confusing overall. I've also started attending a Comic Book Club, which is cool, as in they make me update comics every week... SO...

Alpha Beta Soup, in theory, is updating once a week.

Off Campus is updating... whenever. So is RSR.

To see where my real effort is going, visit my dA page. It has weekly updates of a page or more of Attagirl. It's my new project and if all goes according to plan it will be published. So go see.

Updatin'

So, things are updating while others are winding down.

For example: Alpha Beta Soup is basically done for the summer... I don't have any more comics. However, the school year starts in only three weeks, so I'll have some for you then. I *was* going to draw up the ones that I am never going to do for the school newspaper, but with only three weeks, the most you'll get out of me is a sketch or two. :P I'm way too busy.

In other news, I finally have scripts for Ready, Set-Retreat! and I'm working on that. I'm also getting along with Off Campus and doing comics for that. Go check it out! (For some reason, the link to Off Campus is leading back to the blog, at least for me. Just go to the links in the side-bar... It's there.)

Ghost for Hire is on indefinite hiatus... Go figure. I only promised one or two updates a YEAR for that one.

Oh Snap!

Yeah, okay, if you post a comment about getting a picture after this post you don't get anything... But Jenna proved me wrong! Now I must draw her an African-American. *poke*

But yeah, Off Campus is starting up again (yay!). I have so many strips it's not even funny. So stop laughing! As soon as I can I'll take down the pictures I put up and put them into my dA account. Additionally, I finally got my second semester's work of Alpha Beta Soup sorted, resized, and dated for the website, so that will be updating MWF for a while. Enjoy it while you can! I know you've never seen these ABS strips before-NOBODY HAS! Mwahaha.

Mi Putanesca

So yeah, still working on comics for the OC. Not this weekend, though. But I am definitely on the job, and will have comic backlogs ready for when I'm off my LOVELY vacation from comics. And hey, really good news... I miss making the comics like hell.

One big problem I'm having is how to incorporate the other characters into the story again. I mean, I just narrowed it down to one small group... Sheli, Tad and Dani. Sure, they're the main characters, mostly because I can relate more to them and thus have more ideas FOR them SPECIFICALLY, but I love all the other characters, too... Sophie, Jenna, Julia, Katie, Dustin... All my bitches need to be included somehow. I'm sure I'd figure out a way on my own, but help is always appreciated and, of course, rewarded in sexual favors. Rawr.

I have work starting this week, too. More time sucked from comic-making.

For Ready, Set-Retreat! Sophie has yet to get me scripts. I'm getting a little antsy and maybe a little... mad isn't the right word. Impatient? I can't write my own scripts. I swear. But I might start trying. And that's bad because this is OUR comic it is not MY comic and I do not WANT it to be MY comic. Dammit. (Sophie this is for youuuuuuuu.)

I'm so confident that I won't get any comments (because I won't tell anybody I updated my blog) that if you post a comment to show you read or check it regularly I'll draw you a person and color it [edited just for Jenna!], whoever you want. And it can be a short comment like 'yo' or even just blank. Because I am that certain I won't have to lift a finger MWAHAHAHA.
